The shortlist for the 2018 Encore Award, given by the British Royal Society of Literature to the best second novel of the year, includes two titles of genre interest:
“Devil’s Day” by Andrew Michael Hurley (John Murray)
“The Bedlam Stacks” by Natasha Pulley (Bloomsbury Circus)
The judges for 2018 are Alex Clark (chair), Julia Copus, and Ted Hodgkinson.
The winner of the £10,000 award will be announced May 9, 2018.
