The 75th Venice International Film Festival, 29 August to 8 September 2018

The 75th Venice International Film Festival (75. Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica) is scheduled to be held from 29 August to 8 September 2018 within Palazzo del Cinema di Venezia (Venice Cinema Palace), Lido, Italy.

The 75th Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia.

Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro has been named as the President of the Jury with Michele Riondino hosting the festival.

FIRST MAN”, directed by Damien Chazelle, has been selected to open the festival.

FIRST MAN” is an upcoming American biographical drama film directed by Damien Chazelle and written by Josh Singer, based on the book “First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong” by James R. Hansen.

The film stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012), alongside Claire Foy, Corey Stoll, Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, Shea Whigham, and Christopher Abbott, and depicts the years leading up to the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.

It is scheduled to have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 29, 2018 and it will be released in the United States on October 12, 2018, by Universal Pictures.
