The 2018 Gerardmer International Fantastic Film Festival (France)

The Gérardmer International Fantastic Film Festival is an international festival dedicated to Fantastika cinema, held every year in Gérardmer, in the Vosges, Lorraine province, France.

Gérardmer takes up the torch of the International Festival of the Fantastic Films of Avoriaz.

Called “Fantastica” until 1996, the fantasy film festival then became “Fantastic’Arts”, emphasizing its openness to other artistic forms than cinema.

Since the 2009 edition, the name “Fantastic’Arts” has given way to the usual title of “Gérardmer’s Fantastic Film Festival“, also called Gérardmer Festival.

For its 25th edition, the Gerardmer International Fantastic Film Festival was held from January 31st to February 4th, 2018.
As every year, the spectators were able to discover the best in fantastic cinema with short and full-length film screenings.
The Jury of Long Films was presided over by the French director, screenwriter, producer and actor Mathieu Kassovitz.

The Gérardmer International Fantastic Film Festival is dedicated to the Fantasy genre under all its forms: science-fiction, horror, supernatural, etc.

The aim of the Gérardmer International Fantastic Film Festival is to promote (in France and in Europe) films of the fantasy genre, offering them a “quality label” that guarantees a growing impact on general audiences.

The Gérardmer International Fantastic Film Festival consists of the following three sections:

- one international competitive feature fiction films section

- one international non-competitive feature fiction films section

- one competitive short films section, open to French-speaking countries only
