Immersion” by Aliette de Bodard (published in Clarkesworld Magazine 6/12) won the Nebula Award for short story.

Aliette’s novella “On a Red Station, Drifting” (Immersion Press) was nominated for the 2012 Nebula Awards Novella category.
The 2012 Nebula Awards were presented May 18, 2013 in a ceremony at SFWA’s 48th Annual Nebula Awards Weekend, held in San Jose CA, USA. Gene Wolfe was honored with the 2012 Damon Knight Grand Master Award for his lifetime contributions and achievements in the field. Carl Sagan and Ginjer Buchanan received Solstice Awards, and Michael H. Payne was given the Kevin O’Donnell Jr. Service to SFWA Award.

Aliette de BodardAliette de Bodard is an award-winning speculative fiction writer.

She is of French/Vietnamese descent, born in the USA, and grew up and live in Paris, France. French is her mother-tongue, and she writes in English. She is a Software Engineer specialising in Machine Vision. She is a member of the Written in Blood writers group.
In 2009 she was nominated for the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer and has won Writers of the Future. She has been published in Interzone, Clarkesworld, Hub magazine, Black Static, Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, Asimov’s, Realms of Fantasy, Apex Magazine, among others.
Her short story “The Shipmaker” won the 2010 British Science Fiction Award for Best Short Fiction and her short story “Immersion” won the 2012 Nebula Award for Best Short Story.
Her novelette “The Jaguar House, in Shadow” was nominated for both the Nebula and Hugo Awards. Her short story “Shipbirth” was also nominated for the Nebula.
Many of her stories are set in alternate history worlds where Aztec or pre-communist Chinese cultures are dominant. Her novel “Servant of the Underworld” (Angry Robot/HarperCollins) is a historical fantasy/mystery set in the fifteenth-century Aztec Empire. Bodard’s short story collection “Scattered Among Strange Worlds” was released in July, 2012. The collection features two science fiction stories entitled “Scattered Along the River of Heaven”, and “Exodus Tides”.
In December 2012, Immersion Press released her novella “On a Red Station, Drifting”. The science fiction work chronicles the conflict between two members of an extended Vietnamese family on a space station ruled by an AI, and is part of Bodard’s Asian-dominated alternate-history series. It was a finalist for the Nebula and Hugo Awards.
