Futuriales Festival : Saturday the 7th of May 2016 (Aulnay-sous-Bois, France)

The Futuriales Festival (The Festival of the Imaginary Genres) was created in 2010 by the Aulnay-sous-Bois (a French commune in the Seine-Saint-Denis department in the Île-de-France region in the north-eastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 13.9 km from Paris’ zero kilometer) Network of  Libraries and by the Folies D’Encre (Ink Folies) bookshop .

The Futuriales Festival honors the speculative fiction (SF, fantasy, fantastic literature) offering it an enhancement space, visibility and meetings with readers. It enables the distribution of these genres to the general public.

This festival invites visitors to discover or rediscover a representative panel of French production of literature of the imagination with the participation of fifty authors. Placed under the sign of conviviality and celebration, conferences and round tables, readings, games stand for all ages run by the Mille et Un Jeux (Thousand and One Games) Association. An original and fun way to explore these literatures in different forms.

While science fiction and its subgenres are finding success in bookstores with a constantly increasing volume of publication, this literature remains under represented in libraries.
The young authors as well as publishers, have difficulties to get a place in the publishing world and when they get to publish, they do not always have the means to make their work known.
The desire of the organizers is to promote young authors of SF, F and H. The Futuriales Festival  is a meeting place between readers, authors and publishers, a place of sharing and reflection.

For the 2016 edition of the Futuriales Festival, the theme is time travel - the lead topic, and a conference will be dedicated.

Comics authors and illustrators will also be present.
Many personalities that the public can meet, discover, listen at conferences and debates, and with whom they can exchange opinions at book signings that punctuate the festival.
